A façade in continuous illusory transformation—a concept store for a furniture and kitchen solutions company

Design Awards - 2025

Prudential International (Private) Limited

Nawala

Office Buildings - Shortlisted Nominee

Amidst Nawala’s chaotic commercial streets, this concept store offers a calming visual respite with its striking yet composed façade: an arrangement of aluminium composite panels, in varying sizes and orientations, shifts the façade’s appearance based on viewer position and play of natural light. These panels, appearing in shades of beige, grey, and white, reveal a unified champagne hue upon closer inspection and create a captivating visual that evolves throughout the day, subtly mirroring the store’s core values: adaptability, innovation, and the timeless nature of its products. The interior unfolds across five levels and a semi-basement, in a seamless journey through curated spaces designed to immerse and inspire. The program begins with a glass façade and an intentionally wide-stepped staircase that invites passersby into the shop. The ground floor comprises two levels: a welcome lounge and an elevated platform, three steps up left, with curated kitchenette displays. A feature staircase within an atrium visually connects all levels and takes visitors to the first floor. An illuminated product signage wall vertically spans the atrium height; paired with partial views of merchandise floors on opposite side, it sparks the ambiance of an urban retail corridor. Drawing on the concept of “Gruen Effect,” the circulation plan strategically ensures maximum product exposure and engagement on the ground and first floors before directing customers to higher levels via a primary staircase; exemplifying the store’s brand identity as a space that invites discovery and interaction. The topmost floor houses administrative offices.
